at last...
HOLIDAYS! That's about it, really. Possibly more when have caught up with everything (well, "everything" is probably a tad optimistic...). | | Monday, December 11th, 2006 | | 8:07 pm |

Anyone with thoughts/prayers to spare, could they send them the way of my ex-colleague? His wife was killed yesterday morning in a car crash. They only moved to new jobs & new house (right across the country) last August, and it was supposed to be the beginning of the next stage in their lives. She was only in her mid-30s, and a really lovely person. He's devastated. Thanks. | | Thursday, May 11th, 2006 | | 8:33 pm |
From b_liz & francesn , although I shouldn't think there'll be all that many memories of me! If you read this, even if I don't speak to you often, post a memory of me. It can be anything you want, it can be good or bad, just so long as it happened

And 318-3 isn't a bad start at all - let's see if they can keep it going ... Current Mood: cheerful | | Monday, April 24th, 2006 | | 2:46 pm |
Hey, I can get on LJ at school! Never had the chance to discover this before, but am hanging around waiting for a meeting after an INSET day. So, the book meme I never got around to before - from several people, I should think! Some are rather more obscure than others...

Friday, thank goodness
Not that today's been too bad work-wise - did have dodgy Y9 class to finish with, but had had two free lessons before that, so it evened out, I suppose. It's just depressing when you put up notices or posters in the corridor and walk down there 10 minutes later to find them lying ripped on the floor. Doesn't help that I'm feeling generally under the weather, though - streaming cold, headache etc. Quite a few people seem to be the same at the moment, though that doesn't make it any easier! Was quite surprised I managed to stay awake and talk sense (well, as much as ever) at choir practice this evening, too. Even played a few right notes. Ooh, and did anyone watch that "Story of 1" programme on Wednesday? I'd been discussing the idea of Pythagorean tuning with my AS students that morning, and lo and behold, Terry Jones pops up that very evening with his tuned flowerpots to demonstrate the point! Cricket...
Well, last club cricket match of the season was today :( - and we actually managed to win it! I'm possibly attaching more importance to this than it might seem to merit, but we've only managed to win one other league game outright all season, thanks to a) the winning draw system and b) clashes with county u15 and u17 games. Finally had the combination today of a decent team and an opposition not consisting of two-thirds of the county seniors... For anyone interested, we restricted them to 114 all out off 39.2 overs, and started off our innings nicely (with our 11-yr-old opening the batting!) before a distinct wobble in the 90s, then recovered to score the runs in 21.5 overs for 5 wickets. 'Twas very hot, though, especially at first - the rain kindly held off until we'd finished :). Now to settle to cricket-watching (roll on Thursday) rather than playing! And it's back to school tomorrow. Lovely. No, it should be interesting, with major changes in staffing in my department - I'm actually quite looking forward to it. Let's see if I still think that in 24 hours' time ;) Current Mood: but tired! | | Wednesday, August 31st, 2005 | | 9:17 pm |
Finally succumbed... Yes, it's the end of the school holidays, I'm about to go back to work, so what do I do? Create an LJ - yet another thing to take up time. Hmm, sensible. Mind you, whether I'll ever remember to update it is anyone's guess. At some point I might even get around to making it look slightly more interesting - seems like an excellent procrastination tool!
Anyway, welcome to what will probably be a random collection of musings, rants and other nonsense... but that's life, really!
